First firing is the so called bisque firing where temperature goes as high as 1000C degrees. After that our buttons are ready to be glazed. We put 2-4 layers of glaze manually and when they've dried, buttons are fired for the second time at about 1210C-1240C degrees depending on the glaze choice. The backside of the buttons stays unglazed. As this is a mixed set, buttons within one set may be out of different clays, so the backsides are of different colors. One might be white porcelain, the other one black or yellow clay etc.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify; line-height: normal; margin: 12.0pt 0cm 12.0pt 0cm;\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, 'San Francisco', 'Segoe UI', Roboto, 'Helvetica Neue', sans-serif; font-size: 0.875rem;\"\u003eCan you wash the buttons in a washing machine? We would always go for handwash to provide extra care. However smaller buttons can also be washed in a machine, provided you choose wool or handwash program and the garment is turned inside out and put in a laundry bag. The buttons are not afraid of water or temperature, its all about continuous strokes against the washing machine drum when spinning.
